THE GLOBAL SELF-LEVELING SYSTEMThe properly installed Global Self-Leveling System becomes an integrated component of the road surface. The frame rests in the asphalt road surface and does not sit directly on the shaft, thus adjusting itself to the level of the road. The Global Self-Leveling System uses either: 1) the Cast Iron Manhole Cover SCANDIC SN (DIN EN 124 - D 400), a self-leveling (rolling) frame, available with a round diameter of 600, 700 or 800 mm (23.6”, 27.5” or 34.5”) that features a 2-point locking system and a HYDROprene insert in the frame, or (2) the Cast Iron Manhole Cover ECON SN (DIN EN 124 - D 400) with a self-leveling (rolling) frame and a round diameter of 600, 700 or 800 mm (23.6”, 27.5” or 34.5”), featuring a 3-point locking system with a hinge operating at 120° in the inspection position and 90° in the lifting position. Both of these specialty covers guarantee a high degree of safety against breaking. The unique advantages of our self-leveling covers are achieved through specific manufacturing details. Please see our product brochure HERE. Self-levelingDuring the course of the installation process, the covers are inserted and compacted into the openings, which were previously prepared with AQUAPHALT™. Thus, they are completely even within the traveled road and are not noticeable when traversed. Excellent and evenly spread sealing around the shaft areaThe compacting process for the cover during the sealing of the road guarantees that the sealing around the shaft is as durable as the rest of the traveled surface. Independent from the shaft’s positioningThe cover does not rest on the shaft. Thus, it settles with the road, not with the shaft. Shaft Protection due to more favorable weight distribution on roadsThe upper rim of the cover reaches into the road, thereby transferring the weight first to the road and only secondly, to a small degree, to the shaft. No seam between cover and roadThe angular construction of the cover in cross-cut avoids the development of pressed seams between the road and the cover, which may become enlarged through damp conditions and frost. This way, dirty surface water is blocked from reaching the shaft. This is of particular importance for use in watershed areas. Additional sealing of the seam is not necessary. RetractableOnce the upper flange is exposed, the complete cover can be lifted off or pulled out. The slightly conic configuration of the vertical cover shaft avoids clogging up during rising. Hinged cover lidThe Cover lid features a hinge for safety and easy maintenance. The opening is approximately 115 degrees. At 90 degrees, the cover can be removed from the frame. Noise-free positioning of the coverThe cover is noise-free due to a dampening level made of neoprene, which covers the whole surface. Feasibility for heavily used traffic areasSELF-LEVELING covers can be installed in particularly heavy traffic areas, such as before traffic lights, in areas with tire tracks caused by heavy traffic as well as rising and falling areas. The installation of the cover is cost-effective due to extremely short repair/restoration times of about 1.5 hours per cover for the experienced team for standard manholes. Self-leveling covers may be installed in machine-made new roads as well as in existing roads. Please refer to our proven installation suggestions. Self-leveling covers, installed correctly, last well over 5 years. Thus, warranty issues are seldom a concern. Innovation in safety technologyAdditionally, Hydrotec also offers an innovation in safety technology - the anti-terrorist |
